As well as my diversion into Mountain Biking I went to spectate at some diverse Motor Sporting events during the summer. Along with several other Falcon’s I went down to Lydden in support of Chris Bray who was making his circuit racing debut. It was un-believably hot, the car went well, although it was found to be a bit under-powered but I have no doubt that Neil will soon fix that! It was only when I got home that I read the program and saw that Marilyn and Peter Knight were doing the timekeeping!

The next week I went to the qualifying race-off of the Speedway World Cup at Peterborough. Unfortunately Britain didn’t get through but it was still a great evening, even if it was cut short because of a downpour that flooded the track, the car park and all the surrounding roads. I had never been to Speedway before and really enjoyed it. It was down to earth, well organised and entertaining. If you have never been I would recommend it. And by the way Speedway riders are hard men!

Then just the other week I went to the CART event at Rockingham. I went last year and enjoyed it again just as much. These guys really put on an entertaining show. We were right opposite the pits, what a spectacle and in full view of the grandstand which is very close because there are no run off areas, just a concrete wall and a strong fence!
