31 December 2006
- Mike Hayward has published a
history of Falcon's Guy Fawkes Trial. From it's beginnings in the
Chilterns in the early 50's. It's move to the Cotswolds,
where along with the Cotswold Clouds, it
provided some rare Classic Trialling outside of the MCC events. Finally
Mike brings us up to date with today's Guy Fawkes,
which is run as a PCT, the March Hare taking
over as Falcon's Classic event.
Such a work is never completed and if
anyone has any Guy Fawkes memories they can share with us please get in
touch with Mike or
Michael.

According to my calculations
David Haizelden has won The Crackington Cup,
even though he retired on The Camel, with Falcon's Simon Groves in 2nd
place. I can be a little more certain that Andrew Martin
is The Wheelspin champion.
However, I don't want to congratulate them until we hear the official
results from Chris Phillips.
|
 |
Long time trialler Clive Booth has
retired from the sport. His well known Geoff Jackson/Reg Taylor built
Replica Dellow Mk2 has been purchased by Falcons Ed Nikel who now has
his ex Matt Wilmore, ex Mike Pearson
Buggy for sale.

4 December 2006 - Duncan Stephens won his
second trial in as many weekends beating John Fack on a tie break at the
Gloucester Sporting Trial, both driving Crossle’s. In very challenging
and variable conditions Stephens, Fack and Ian Wright were well ahead of
Steve Courts in fourth with Roland Uglow next. Rookie Nick Speed had a
tremendous day finishing tenth in a high quality field of thirty-five.

20 November 2006 - Adrian Marfell
was best overall on The Hardy Trial yesterday. Crackington contenders
Simon Groves, Dave Haizelden and Andrew Martin
all won their classes,
in Simons case after breaking a diff. The event was back to Woolbridge organisation and only had 24 starters after
very poor pre-event publicity and late circulation of the regs.

14 October 2006 - Simon Groves won
today's Ebworth Classic Trial, despite having no less
than five punctures! Passengered by
Duncan Stephens, Simon dropped 28 points in
his Escort. Rick Neale had the same score in his Melos but Simon had the
better time on special tests. It was a wet underfoot and competitors had
a tough time with tyre pressure limits. Several hit some of Ebworth's
many trees, including Simon who damaged the passengers side rear quarter
and wrecked a wheel.

25 September 2006 -
Report on the second Snetterton race of the year added - David
Howard won an exciting race. Three of the four championship contenders
had to work very hard for their class wins, only James Christie having a
relatively easy victory. Neil had the narrowest win, crossing the line a
mere tenth of a second in front of Ian Clark after the pair touched on
the Revett Straight. Steve Primett’s class win and fastest lap means he
will be champion if he wins the final Donnington round.

gain. David Howard was the overall winner in his Jaguar XJ12, ahead of
Dave Nixon (Mazda RX3) who beat Steve Primett in Class C. However, Steve
